Taiwan-based display manufacturer AU Optronics (AUO) is planning to install equipment for the production of OLEDs later this year, says technology news website Digitimes.
The company will then begin production of the OLED panels for hand-held consumer electronics devices, it suggests.
AUO's new OLED facility will involve reusing a line previously used for low temperature polysilicon line, which is typically used in TFT-LCD displays.
