A new company is being formed by Japanese firms Casio Computing and Toppan Printing to compete in the OLED display industry.
The cooperative venture will spin out from Casio's existing LCD business as a subsidiary in February 2010. The company, which produces watches, keyboards and calculators, will then hand over part of the ownership of the company to Toppan Printing in April as part of the ¥400 (€2.96) million deal.
The two companies aim to begin early mass-production of OLED displays targeted at Casio's existing customer base, according to an official announcement.
