Merck KGaA, in Darmstadt, Germany and Australian green tech firm Dyesol have signed an agreement to collaborate in the development of electrolytes for use in dye solar cells.
The joint development agreement will lead to future commercial arrangements where Merck will make existing and next generation electrolytes for dye solar cells.
Merck is involved in several organic electronic initiatives, which include organic solar cell projects funded by the Germany government.
Dyesol's dye solar cell materials are being commercialised in several renewable energy applications, ranging from solar cell-integrated bags and consumer electronics to building-integrated photovoltaics.
