US-based organic photovoltaic (OPV) developer Konarka has installed a solar curtain wall at partner company Arch Aluminum and Glass's headquarters.
The OPV installation is a pilot project in collaboration with Arch Aluminum, which will gather data on the validity of the solar curtain wall. There are two installations on the east and south facing walls of the company's Tamarac, Florida offices.
The cells, which will provide 1.5kW of power, will be complete by the end of 2009 and results of the trial will be shared with field testing customers, builders and architects in 2010-2011.
Konarka and Arch Aluminum began working together as part of an advanced product development agreement in May 2009.
