The US Department of Energy (DOE) has provided $37 million in funding(€26.2 million) for solid-state lighting projects that will help develop OLED and LED lighting technologies.
The awards go to 17 projects in total, divided into core technology research, which receives $4 million; product development, which has accounts for $10.3 million; and manufacturing, which receives $23.5 million
Companies including Applied Materials, GE Lumination, Philips Lumileds LED Lighting and Universal Display Corporation have been funded as part of the manufacturing group.
