OLEDs took centre stage at the Plastic Electronics Awards for Innovation 2009.

At the Awards for Innovation 2009, organised by +Plastic Electronics Magazine and the Plastic Electronics Foundation (PEF), OLED lighting dominated - reflecting how far work in this field has come in the last few years.
The awards were held on 28 October 2009 during the Plastic Electronics Conference and Showcase. Professor Karl Leo, head of the Institute of Applied Photo-Physics (IAPP) at Technical University (TU) Dresden, introduced the awards alongside Hilbert Dirk, deputy mayor of the city of Dresden. Hilbert's office, the Department of Economic Development, has worked closely with Leo and
his team to establish a plastic electronics cluster in Dresden that can develop within the region's silicon semiconductor industry.
