The Organic Electronic Association's (OE-A's) latest publication has added OLED lighting and smart textiles to its roadmap for plastic electronics developments.
The third edition of the OE-A Roadmap for Organic and Printed Electronics identifies applications and technical challenges for technologies such as organic solar cells, flexible displays, RFID and organic sensors.
However, this year has seen the addition of smart textiles - with companies such as Interactive Wear and Qio Systems already active in this area - and OLED lighting, which has gained interest from US and UK government, as well as Philips, GE and Osram.
The OE-A paper outlines application areas and investigates material requirements, production processes and other issues central to the development of organic electronic devices.
