Vehicle manufacturer Daimler has partnered with BASF on its latest concept car, featuring a range of efficient technologies.
The Smart Forvision concept is due to launch at the 64th International Motor Show in Frankfurt. As an electric vehicle, energy efficiency is key, therefore the car features a transparent roof, lined with organic photovoltaic cells, which provide a source of power for the batteries, and OLED lighting panels which cut down on energy consumption in less critical areas, states a BASF press release. The two technologies combined also allow for an aesthetic design, in keeping with concept car expectations.
In addition, the car plays host to a number of other weight saving technologies, such as plastic wheels developed by BASF, which allows more power to be produced for forward motion.
