€1.9 million funding for Swedish dye cell developer

Dye solar cell firm NLAB Solar has received SEK18 million (€1.9 million) in funding from Scandinavian glass company Fasadglass.

NLAB Solar's funding could help it prepare for the building-integrated photovoltaics marketThe funding will be used to accelerate product development and market entry, with a view to accessing the building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) market, according to a company press release.

BIPV is seen as a lucrative opportunity for dye-sensitised solar cells (DSSC), which can harvest energy when used in glass façades or windows.

In August 2010, Israeli DSSC firm 3G Solar received new funding to develop its devices for use in outdoor, large-area and grid-connected applications.
