Technology companies AUO and Idemitsu Kosan have announced a strategic alliance to aid development of OLED displays.
Under the agreement, Idemitsu will supply high-performance OLED materials, while AUO will reinforce their development. It is hoped this will accelerate AUO's small-sized OLED displays for smartphones, and potentially displays for use in televisions, states a release on the Mrketwatch website. Both companies have been working with OLED technology for some time, and the new agreement brings the best points from each other's research together.
Should the collaboration be successful, there is potential for AUO and Idemitsu to work in other areas for development, away from OLED displays.
