A designer has created a concept drawing of a flexible Samsung mobile phone using the company's OLED display technology.
Heyon You has taken the technology and integrated it into a mobile device, allowing the screen to fold over on itself, or wrap around the users wrist. Samsung is investigating flexible AMOLEDs, and published a prototype made from two panels, a protective glasses cover, a module case and silicone rubber. According to stress tests conducted by Samsung, the display can be folded 100,000 times before a 6% decrease in brightness was noticed along the seam, reports Ubergizmo.
While not a Samsung sanctioned concept, design ideas such as this express the potential use of flexible technology which is currently being developed.
