DuPont has signed a technology licensing agreement with an unnamed Asian AMOLED manufacturer to develop large-screen televisions.
The agreement enables process technology developed by DuPont to be used in the AMOLED displays, allowing them to be produced at a lower cost than through the use of other methods.
DuPont's process involves technology that efficiently dispenses liquid OLED materials. The company developed the process to optimise display yields and performance, as well as to cut costs compared to the production of other AMOLED or LCD displays, reports the TMCnet website. No further details of the agreement have been released.
The company estimates that the AMOLED television market will reach over $5 billion (€3.6 billion) by 2017.
