Korean electronics manufacturer LG has announced plans to market a 55-inch OLED TV in 2012.
The company will focus on larger screen OLED production, having decided current display systems in mobile and tablet products are the best option available to the market at present. It plans to increase production of large glass panels for OLED TVs from 4000 to 12,000 sheets per month during the second half of 2011, according to a report by Slash Gear. Due to limited facilities for overall production, the initial run of the large screen televisions will be in the tens of thousands, until demand requires expansion.
The report also states that Samsung is looking to test produce a run of 32-inch OLED TVs in the second half of 2012.
