Nanomarkets has published a report predicting the market for alternative TCOs will reach $925 million (€680 million) by 2016.
Emerging Markets for Non-ITO Transparent Conductive Oxides addresses the markets for alternative ITOs, such as carbon nanotubes or copper nanowires. It focuses on their applications in e-paper, OLED displays and OLED lighting amongst others. NanoMarkets expects antinomy tin oxide (ATO) in its nanomaterial form to break into new markets, while also identifying Fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) as another possible contender, reports SF Gate.
The report also discusses the opportunities for TCOs as an alternative to amorphous silicon in thin-film transistors..
