New small OLED display ready for production

French microdisplay manufacturer MicroOLED is close to production of its small molecule OLED screens.

The micro displays will be used in near-to-eye applicationsThe company states it has orders for almost 10,000 units, and will begin shipping these at the start of 2012. The initial product is a 9.6mm 800 x 480 pixel display on an active CMOS substrate, with an additional filter to boost blue emission. The display is intended for near-to-eye use, such as in security products and electronic binoculars, reports Electronics Weekly.

MicroOLED is already developing a second product, a larder display with smaller pixels, offering a higher resolution.
