French microdisplay manufacturer MicroOLED is close to production of its small molecule OLED screens.
The company states it has orders for almost 10,000 units, and will begin shipping these at the start of 2012. The initial product is a 9.6mm 800 x 480 pixel display on an active CMOS substrate, with an additional filter to boost blue emission. The display is intended for near-to-eye use, such as in security products and electronic binoculars, reports Electronics Weekly.
MicroOLED is already developing a second product, a larder display with smaller pixels, offering a higher resolution.
