Panasonic is investigating the possibility of establishing a gen. 6 facility for the production of OLED televisions.
According to OLED-Info, the company is looking to build the line at its Humeji LCD plant in Japan, with an investment of ¥20-30 billion (€187-€280 million). It was reported in December 2011 that Panasonic was working on a gen. 8.5 pilot facility, while the company's president confirmed at CES in January 2012 that it is working toward OLED television production.
Panasonic has yet to decide on mass-production plans, but may collaborate with another manufacturer at that stage.
