Picosun launches new roll-to-roll ALD equipment

Atomic layer deposition (ALD) equipment manufacturer Picosun has launched a new roll-to-roll ALD coating system.

The new production machines allow for a thin and flexible encapsulation material to be mass produced at a reduced cost, and in large sizes. The ability to print the film continuously will also allow for high yield development, increasing the number of products using it on the market, reports Market Watch.

The move is similar to a process being offered by tooling manufacturer Beneq, and highlights the interest in producing encapsulation films on a mass scale for flexible electronics.
