Students create low-cost organic semiconductor

30 Aug 2011

A research team from Wake Forest University has developed a new organic semiconductor for use with plastic electronics.

The research team developed the semiconductor to aid low-cost electronicsThe development is designed to aid low-cost production of large-area electronics. The research work presents the design of an extrememly large molecule that processes excellent electrical properties while keeping production costs low.

The semiconductor will offer more stability to larger carbon frameworks, reports the university's news page. The results of the published research may lead to significant technological improvements

The team studied new organic semiconductor materials amenable to transistor applications and explored their structure-property relationships.
