Chinese technology group Visonox is to invest in a new 4.5G AMOLED production line, to start operations in 2013.
The move makes Visonox the first company in China to produce its own AMOLED displays. The move to bring the technology to production began two years ago, when the first pilot production line was established. With over 288 patents applied for since the company was established, Visionox has been an important participant in international OLED standards, according to a report by Displaybank.
The company has already gained expertise in establishing new display technologies in China. In 2008, together with Tsinghua University, it established the first PMOLED production line in China. The AMOLED line is expected to cover displays from 3 inches up to 30 inches, with applications including mobile phones, tablets and televisions.
