TCZ, a supplier of OLED manufacturing tools, has received a volume order for its new OLED Gen. 5.5 production tool.
The order, from a leading Asian flat-panel display manufacturer, represents the company's second volume order in 2011.
TCZ is targeting the major OLED manufacturers for its production tools, and with both Samsung and LG expanding their development bases for Gen 5.5, it seems this order could be a catalyst for larger, clearer and more efficient OLED displays. LG recently announced it is pushing ahead with plans for mass-production of OLED televisions, while Samsung has its own plans for OLED production.
According to the report on PR Newswire, TCZ has patented system improvements that significantly improve the yield of OLED displays, reducing the complexity of manufacturing. This could lead to new companies entering the market, but would also allow existing manufacturers to increase production.
