DuPont has announced the acquisition of Innovalight, in an attempt to facilitate the commercialisation of high-efficiency solar cells.
The deal gives DuPont a complete manufacturing solution, producing its own materials and films for solar moduals, alongside Innovalight's silicone inks. Both companies will work together to increase the conversion efficiency of crystalline silicon solar cells. Innovalight recently secured a grant of $3.4 million (€2.3 million) from the US government to fund its nanotechnology based silicon ink manufacturing. DuPont hopes the acquisition will help meet demands for fast and effective solar solutions, reports DigiTimes.
The US company is aiming to reach $2 billion in sales of solar technology by 2014.
