European organic photovoltaic project reaches milestone

04 May 2012

An EU funded project has reached a milestone in its efforts to develop ITO-free organic photovolatics (OPVs).

The new system allows the detection of imperfections in OPV cellsThe HIFLEX project has seen a SolarInspect RollToRoll Metrology System installed in an inline printing and coating system for OPV manufacture at the Technical University of Denmark. This allows the project partners to test complete solar cells and identify defects, reports PV Magazine.

The installation helps in the development of ITO free flexible solar cells for use in a range of different applications, including mobile phones, e-labels and smart clothing.
