Ascent Solar Technologies, a Colorado-based company, has signed an agreement with Germany's Sunload Mobile Solution, to provide flexible thin-film photovoltaics for portable solar products.
A Clean Energy Authority article suggests the copper indium gallium selenide cells could be integrated into Sunload's range of bags, business bags and backpacks.
There is also scope for further use in buildings and shades.
Organic and inorganic solar cells have previously been added to backpacks and carry cases, but it remains a niche market for new solar technologies.
