India's National Chemical Laboratory is to invest €610,000 in a new centre of excellence, in order to aid research into organic solar cells.
The Times of India reports the new centre will focus on exploring ways of capturing solar energy through new materials and processes, as part of the union government's focus on harnessing more renewable energy. The team behind the research will look at non-silicon materials in order to reduce production costs.
The NCL will also work on dye-sensitised solar cells, and other methods, to aid the government's Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission.
