US company Nanosolar has signed long-term supply agreements with a number of European companies, for up to 1GW of Nanosolar panels.
The agreements, with Belectric, EDF Energies and Plain Energy, will see each company expand its solar power plant developments. Nanosolar's roll-to-roll printing process allows for a lower cost, while ensuring that each panel is more efficient. The firm is aiming to pass the $0.60 (€0.42) per watt cost threshold in the coming years, and soon expects to double its manufacturing capacity.
The report, on Semiconductor Today, states that each company has worked with Nanosolar over the years as a strategic partner, before signing the agreement.
