A spin-out from a UK solar energy development centre has received £4.5 million (€5.3 million) to develop product prototypes.
Eight19, a startup that emerged from the UK's Advanced Photovoltaic Research Accelerator, is being funded by low-carbon economy developer the Carbon Trust.
The company will work with the Cavendish Laboratory at the University of Cambridge on large-scale organic solar cells, produced in a roll-to-roll process, says a Cambridge press release.
The Accelerator is expected to receive further funding for its work with solar energy R&D organisations, +Plastic Electronics reported in August.
