Sony OLED display approved for medical use

18 Jul 2012

Sony's medical grade OLED monitor has been approved by the US Food and Drink Association (FDA).

Sony's monitor offers a number of benefits to doctors and surgeonsThe PVM-2551 MD display was launched by the Japanese manufacturer almost a year ago. The approval means the screen can be used in US medical institutions. The benefits of OLED displays, such as true-to-life colour rendering and lack of motion blur mean it will be an asset to surgeons and doctors for use during medical procedures, reports Manufacturing Digital.

The FDA approval could transform the monitor into the display standard for US hospitals, and open the doors for other OLED based screens to seek approval.
