The Smart System Technology & Conference Centre, at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering, has begun the construction of its new OLED manufacturing facility.
The new production line is being built next to the STC's Canandaigua facility. OLED lighting will be manufactured there by Moser Baer, and building work is expected to be complete by January 2012, according to a report by the Penfield Post. The expansion was aided by grants from Moser Baer and investment secured by US Senator Chuck Schumer, as well as state funding.
The line, once opened, is also expected to provide 150 jobs, and will drive the OLED side of the solid state lighting market further in the US.
