Idemitsu Kosan has established a separate company in South Korea, to focus solely on OLED manufacturing.
The company, Idemitsu Electronic Materials Korea, is currently looking for a site to build a new manufacturing plant, and is aiming to start production in 2012. The plant will have a supply link to most of Asia and Europe. Idemitsu Kosan has taken this route to reinforce its supply system, and increase production capacities for electronic technologies, states a report by 4-Traders.
The company is currently exploring the markets for OLED lighting, having recently launched a joint venture with Panasonic.
