Panasonic produces new high efficiency OLED panel

12 Sep 2011

Panasonic Electric Works has announced the production of a highly efficient OLED device.

The panel measures just 2mm square, but produces an efficiency of 128lm/wThe new OLED panel measures just 2mm square, however it produces 128 lm/w efficiency. This has been achieved by using a semi-spherical highly refractive lens to enhance the extradition of the light. The panel uses all phosphorescent materials, and the technique used to produce the light is similar to one used by Universal Display in 2008, reports OLED-Info. The panel uses a high reflectivity metal, and the team behind its creation performed detailed calculations to minimise the internal reflection.

Panasonic has also fabricated a larger panel, measuring 25cm square, which achieves an efficiency of 56 lm/w.
