Having already signed agreements with Samsung, for their use in OLED displays, the UDC patents will allow the joint Japanese venture to use its phosphorescent and other OLED technologies in OLED lighting products. The deal allows for the sale of OLED lighting products, with royalties paid to the US company, reports Marketwire. UDC's phosphorescent materials allow for brighter and more efficient OLEDs. The agreement will run until 2014.
The parties have also entered into a separate material supply agreement, running alongside the licensing deal.
