Kyobo and Qualcomm have launched the first e-reader to use a Mirasol colour e-paper display.
The Mirasol display was launched as a prototype in May 2011, and is now being used in the Android based e-reader, which is targeted at the education market. The e-paper is able to deliver colour graphics and video, with a battery life matching standard monochrome e-paper displays. The Kyobo eReader uses a 5.7-inch display, making use of Qualcomm's front-light technology, making the e-reader useable in the dark, reports technology website SlashGear.
The e-reader is available in South Korea for the equivalent of $310 (€230), yet there are no details on any global launches or price.
