E-reader firm Plastic Logic has cancelled the planned release of its first-generation product, the Que ProReader.
The company planned to ship the new device to its customers in early 2010, but was forced to announce delays due to manufacturing changes.
Now the company has withdrawn the first-generation Que altogether, according to a press release.
Plastic Logic CEO Rich Archuleta comments: 'We recognise the market has dramatically changed, and with the product delays we have experienced, it no longer make sense for us to move forward with our first generation electronic reading product.'
The company now plans to work on a new e-reading device.
Archuleta states: 'We plan to take the necessary time needed to re-enter the market as we refocus, redesign and retool for our next generation ProReader product.'
The decision follows the failure of other firms to succeed in the e-reader market this year, such as iRex and Foxit.
