Cambridge based Pragmatic Printing is working with integrated security company De La Rue to develop printed electronic security products.
The two companies have completed prototypes for Project RAIL (Remotely Activated Interactive Labels) using Pragmatic's printed logic circuits. No batteries are required; power is instead harvested from an RFID or NFC reader, allowing the labels to be extremely thin and flexible. Both companies now aim to drive forward the technology towards commercialisation, reports Business Weekly.
The £600,000 (€690,000) development project is being supported by a grant from the UK's Technology Strategy Board.
