ETH Zurich files patent for silver nanoink

08 Apr 2011

ETH Zurich have applied for a patent for a silver nanoink, which can be used in the production of plastic electronics.

ETH Zurich currently have patent pending on their silver nanoinkThe ink can be applied on any substrate by various production methods, including roll-to-roll and spraying, and is turned into a highly conductive element by a low temperature treatment. No vaccum disposition is required. This provides a more accurate surface coating, and better electrical conductivity.

According to a press release on Science Business, the invention is based on composite nanoparticles containing silver and calcium carbonate. The patent is currently pending.
