New platform to allow LEDs in clothes

Hardware maker Adafruit has unveiled a new wearable electronics platform, which could allow for images to be displayed on clothing.

The system could allow up to 1,000 LEDs to be wired into fabricsThe company's platform, Flora, is designed to give anyone the ability to create a matrix of small LED pixels, making a custom wearable multi-LED design. The system is currently in testing and can support a limit of around 500 pixels, although Adafruit expects to expand on this. The company also states that it has built-in USB support, allowing it to be programmed from an external source, reports technology news website CNET.

There are no details yet on when the concept could come to market or a price for the system.
